Blackburn vs Middlesbrough Match Preview
A game that both teams will be desperate to win to give them their first three points of the season. While Blackburn were expected to be somewhere in the bottom half, Middlesbrough certainly weren’t and their fans will not be happy with just one point from their opening two games. Blackburn have done worse than that as they have none, and currently sit bottom of the league on goal difference.
The home side were beaten by newly promoted Charlton on the opening day of the season at home in what was a disappointing start to proceedings for them. Then they went to Fulham last weekend and were completely outclassed by a promotion contender, we need to see Blackburn step things up here to show they can compete a little better than what we have seen so far.
Two games in and Middlesbrough have three goals on the board, all of which came in one game against Luton. However, they also conceded that day and don’t be surprised to see them involved in a few high scoring games this season as they look good in attack, but very shaky at the back. Having said that, last weekend saw them lose 1-0 at home to Brentford in what was a tighter game, but that looks as though it will be the exception and not the rule.
Both teams will be looking to record a victory here but the question has to be is either of them good enough to? We don’t think they are and while Middlesbrough’s set up and defensive frailties mean there is likely to be goals, we think this one will end in a score draw, with neither team able to get their first win on the board.
