Blackburn vs Derby Match Preview

Blackburn made it three successive defeats at the weekend as they went down to a 1-0 home loss to Stoke and they will be happy when the season ends. The result means they have taken just four points from their last 11 and a promising season has fizzled out. A strong first-half of the season means they still sit in 16th and are eight points above the drop zone.

At Ewood Park, Rovers have lost four of their last five matches with each of those defeats coming by the same 1-0 scoreline. None of the last seven Championship fixtures at this ground have seen both teams score. Five of the last six at this ground have seen at least one goal netted in the opening half.

Derby were involved in an entertaining encounter at the weekend as three times they were pegged back and had to settle for a 3-3 draw at Brentford. The result stretched their unbeaten run to five and means they remain seventh in the table. They find themselves two points behind Bristol City and both sides have a fixture in hand of Villa in fifth who are three points above County with a far superior goal-difference.

Away from Pride Park, the Rams are struggling and have taken just three points from their last six fixtures. Their last two on the road have gone over 2.5 goals and produced a combined ten while the four prior to that combined for just five.

The East Midlands outfit are the marginal favourites here but I still expected them to be shorter given the different motivations each side have. Rovers are badly out of form and are struggling and look to already be on the beach. Derby were a little unlucky not to beat Brentford at the weekend and the Bees carry a far greater attacking threat than their opponents here. A cover of the draw in the draw no bet market might be sensible but at these prices I am going to risk the visitors to win without any safety blanket.

Harry Wilson grabbed a brace at the weekend and he is a player who benefits from the extra creativity the midfield carries after the return from injury of Mason Mount. Wilson to net at any time against a Rovers defence which is the fifth worst in the division is the call
