Birmingham vs West Brom Match Preview
Birmingham are looking to bounce back to a 2-0 loss at QPR in midweek a scoreline that while a little harsh the result was probably fair. It means the Second City outfit have won just one of their last five though three have finished all-square.
At St Andrew’s, the Blues lost in midweek and this marks the start of a tricky home spell with Leeds next in town after West Brom. They are winless in their last three at this ground and have managed just one goal in three here.
West Brom were lucky to come away with a point in their last fixture against struggling Wigan with the Latics the better team in a game that ended 1-1. It put to an end a five-game winning run but they remain unbeaten in 12.
Away from the Hawthorns, the Baggies are unbeaten in five winning four of these and have lost just once this season. None of their next three and just one of their next five opponents on the road are currently in the top-half of the division.
Albion are strong favourites to win this game and while this makes sense after backing them in midweek it is hard to trust them here until we see that poor performance was just a blip. Both teams played Wednesday evening and then have to play Saturday lunchtime which is a short turn around. The Baggies also played with ten-men for 40 minutes in midweek so legs could be tired. This is a local derby so we could have a tight first-half and a more open second one. Take after the interval to be the highest-scoring while backing both teams to score after the break also appeals.
