Birmingham vs Luton Match Preview
Birmingham won 1-0 over Blackburn in midweek to make it two victories in the last three Championship games. It means they sit 11th in the table with an equal of victories and defeats (six) and only one game ending in a draw.
At St Andrew’s, the Blues have been very strong winning four of their last five and picking up 13 of their 19 points. Only Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday (three) have a better home defensive record than the Midlands outfit (who have conceded four).
Luton lost 3-2 at Fulham on Wednesday evening meaning it is just one victory and four points from their last four. Town are an entertaining team to watch for neutrals with seven of the last nine in all competitions going over 2.5 goals and the two that did not still going over 1.5
Away from Kenilworth Road, the Hatters have lost their last two and three of their last four winning just two of seven. Only Cardiff (24) have seen more combined goals in their Championship fixtures than the 23 the Bedfordshire side have been involved with.
It is hard to argue with the prices on offer here which make Birmingham the favourites given the respective home and away form of both sides. The goals markets are hard to judge as the Blues tend to be involved in low-scoring games and the Hatters high-scoring ones.
Given this is the third game in eight days for both sides if we see goals they might come late so backing the second-half to be the highest scoring 45 minutes appeals. Another bet that appeals is taking Spanish midfielder Fran Villalba to net at anytime. Now the midfielder has one only goal for the hosts but topped the expected goals data for the game in midweek and looks worth chancing here.
