Birmingham vs Blackburn Match Preview
Birmingham host Blackburn for their FA Cup clash on Saturday with a disappointing streak on their backs tainted by defensive slip-ups which saw both Leeds (4-5) and Wigan (2-3) snatch points in thrilling games at St Andrew’s over the past seven days. They now hope to bounce and earn an FA Cup pick-me-up, looking to capitalize the Rovers’ woes on the road.
Blues have been scoring goals but six were enough for no points on those two occasions, surely giving Josep Clotet Ruiz a lot to think about as his men suffered five losses in the last six games. They only interrupted the streak with a 1-1 draw at Ewood Park and will now surely hope for another positive occasion against the Lancashire rivals.
Blackburn will still fancy their top 6 chances in Championship but they come into the match with woes of their own, after seeing losses at struggling Huddersfield (2-1) and Nottingham (3-2) in their last two outings. They have struggled on the road through most part of the campaign, letting in way too many goals and often seeing it costly.
Rovers have been a lot tougher to score against in front of the home fans but this will be no less worrying ahead of the Saturday trip. Tony Mowbray saw his men under the weather and is thankful to return to a Saturday-Saturday schedule, but it only comes after this game and fatigue could play a role for them once again.
We will now stick our necks out for Birmingham to end their disappointing run and make their way to the 4th Round with a win priced at 5/4 with BetVictor, which feels like great value seeing the Rovers have struggled to impress on the road.
Still, we expect a great challenge from the visitors and we hope to see them do their bit in making this a thrilling occasion at St Andrew’s. We’ll thus also go for a Yes on Both teams to score, which comes off as a generous banker bet at 8/11 with William Hill as both sides score and concede numbers of goals lately.
