Birmingham vs Barnsley Match Preview
Barnsley travel to Birmingham for their Matchday 4 Championship clash with a three-match winless streak behind them, including a thriller 2-2 draw against Charlton Athletic over the weekend – where they conceded a very late equalizer from the spot as Lyle Taylor converted with just a minute left on the clock.
Tykes have seen a rather comfortable loss to Sheffield Wednesday (2-0) as well as a League Cup exit in the hands of Carlisle United (0-3), which could make the task to keep their heads high and bounce back even tougher. Daniel Stendel’s men have obviously struggled and now have a lot to prove at St Andrew’s.
Birmingham have, on the other hand, kicked the campaign off with a 0-1 win at Brentford but saw a similarly comfortable League Cup exit at Portsmouth (3-0) in early August and struggled to recuperate, with just a point earned in two Championship outings since then.
Blues have seen a thrashing 3-0 loss at Nottingham Forest over the weekend and while they have been a tougher side to beat at home, goals from Lolley, Grabban, and Dawson will surely hurt their pride. They now need more midway through the week but we feel regaining confidence will not come as quick as the fans would hope.
We will thus stick with Barnsley to keep hold of their solid head-to-head records against Birmingham and leave unbeaten on Tuesday, as we back a Double Chance – Draw or Away win at 4/6 with William Hill and rate it a real banker bet at this point.
We have seen both sides struggling to keep it together at the back and “enjoying” quite the thrillers on their hands. With that in mind, we hope to see goals once again and we’re thus going for a Yes on Both teams to score at 4/5 with bet365 – in hope for more of the same here.
