Birmingham have taken just four points from their last fixtures including a 2-0 defeat at Hull last time out. They are still in the play-off picture and going into the weekend sat four behind the side in sixth.

At St Andrew’s, the Blues have won just one of their last five and lost two of their previous four. Che Adams in good scoring form in front of his own fans having netted four in the last four.

Aston Villa will be hoping the return of Jack Grealish (who featured last weekend) will inspire them like it did in a 4-0 defeat of Derby last time out. They are another side who have not given up hope of a play-off run.

Away from Villa Park, the Midlands outfit are five without a victory but have lost just two of their previous nine. Just one of their six previous on the road in the league has gone over 2.5 goals.

Aston Villa are slight favourites for the game and this will be built on the back of that impressive 4-0 victory over Derby. They are a different side with Jack Grealish but I need to see them do more on the road before I back them.

A draw will probably do neither side any good as they chase the top six so I imagine a cagey opening half and this to develop as the game goes on. My recommendation then is to back the second 45 minutes to be the highest scoring half and over 1.5 goals after the break.
