Bayern Munich travel to struggling Stuttgart for their Matchday 19 clash on Sunday afternoon in search of their fifth win in a row as they look to catch up with Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga table.
Bavarians have beaten Hoffenheim (1-3) returning to Bundesliga after the winter break with goals from Leon Goretzka (x2) and Robert Lewandowski. They’ve thus built on the wins over Hannover (0-4), Leipzig (1-0), and Eintracht Frankfurt (0-3) in December, so we expect them just as motivated on the day.
Stuttgart, on the other hand, struggle to escape the relegation zone and they sit in the play-off spot with 14 points to their name after 18 games played. They’ve earned no points as Wolfsburg (2-0), Schalke (1-3), and Mainz 05 (2-3) all snatched them since mid-December, which has few believing in an upset at Allianz Arena.
Die Roten have found the net twice late in the game against Mainz but this still feels hardly a push to their confidence, as Markus Weinzierl struggles to find a cure for their goalscoring woes on the road. Bayern will be ready to use the open spaces at the back and this could make their life difficult in Munich too.
