Barnsley are embroiled in a promotion fight in League One this season. After a change of ownership and management last summer, the South Yorkshire club have built a youthful but impressive squad at third tier level but face some other big teams for this division including former Premier League outfits Portsmouth and Sunderland. As things stand, they sit in second place in the table above Sunderland on goal difference alone.

That current position doesn’t tell the whole story though. The Tykes have seen a pretty healthy lead over third placed Sunderland slip up in recent weeks as they’ve managed just one win in their last five league outings and now the Black Cats are level on points with two games in hand. After going down in a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Burton Albion last time out can Daniel Stendel’s men bounce back here at 4/6 with William Hill.

Fleetwood Town have enjoyed a solid if unspectacular first campaign under the management of Joey Barton. The former Newcastle United and Queens Park Rangers midfielder was considered a controversial choice at Highbury Stadium last season but the hierarchy of the club will be fairly pleased with the team’s current position of 11th place, keeping them above the fascinating relegation battle that is ensuing in the bottom half of the table.

Despite having picked up seven points from the last available nine, the Cod Army are no longer realistically in with a chance of chasing down the gap between themselves and the play-off positions but they will be looking to end the season on a high regardless and continue the good spell of form that has seen them pick up wins over Fleetwood and Accrington in the last few weeks. We’re backing the visitors to upset the home crowd here. Barnsley may be flying high towards the top of the table but we have started to see the cracks in their promotion push in the last few weeks with a lack of experience, plus injuries to key players, perhaps playing a part as they’ve won just once in their last five games.
