Barcelona vs Rayo Vallecano Match Preview
Barcelona host Rayo Vallecano for their Matchday 27 clash looking to build on a seven-point gap at the top of La Liga table just days after a 0-1 Supercopa de Catalunya loss to Girona, where naming a very young side has proven costly for Ernesto Valverde at Estadi de la Nova Creu Alta.
Blaugrana have had a busy schedule and doing so feels understandable but they will now be desperate to lift their team spirits ahead of the Champions League clash against Lyon, which they have to turn their way after a goalless draw in France. They have beaten Sevilla (2-4) and Real Madrid twice (0-3 in Copa del Rey and 0-1 in La Liga), which should still have them forget about the Catalan cup disappointment.
Rayo Vallecano have struggled for similar pick-me-ups and travel to pace-setters with a five-match losing streak behind them, where they saw Leganes (1-2), Espanyol (2-1), Atletico Madrid (0-1), Getafe (2-1), and Girona (0-2) all snatch the points despite narrow occasions along the way.
Los Franjirrojos have been scoring goals on the road more regularly but still struggled to capitalize on them with many defensive errors, which will feel worrying but also gives a promise of an exciting contest on Saturday afternoon.
We will thus back Barcelona to secure the points with ease but we don’t feel they will completely shut down the rivals, as we now stick our necks out for a Home win & a Yes on Both teams to score at 6/4 with bet365 – which would be the fifth such occasion in six outings at Camp Nou.
With that in mind, we’ll also go for goals and back a very high-scoring clash with Over 3.5 Goals FT at 10/11 with Paddy Power, which has caught the eye of many in the know with Rayo’s struggles to keep it together at the back.
