Barcelona vs Eibar Match Preview
Barcelona haven’t been as convincing in the final third without Luis Suarez lately but still managed to catch up with Real Madrid at the top of the table, beating Real Betis (2-3) and Getafe (2-1) in their last two outings. They now host Eibar and surely hope to build on such consistency ahead of the Champions League trip to Naples.
Blaugrana have seen an early Copa del Rey exit in the hands of Athletic Bilbao (1-0) beforehand but seemingly regained confidence, which has been obvious especially at Camp Nou. They haven’t been scoring as many goals as Quique Setien would have wanted but we expect them in a good mood and tough to cope with once again.
Eibar have been far from their best and sit just outside the relegation zone with a three-point gap to 18th placed Mallorca and a game in hand. They travel to Barcelona with a four-match winless streak behind them and it feels like a wild longshot backing Mendilibar’s men to cause an upset on the day.
Los Armeros saw a Copa del Rey exit of their own as 3rd tier Badajoz (3-1) made their way to 8th Finals, struggling to bounce and earning two points in three La Liga outings. They shared the spoils with Celta Vigo (0-0) and Eibar (1-1) but saw Deportivo Alaves (2-1) snatch all three points despite Fabian Orellana’s late goal two weeks ago.
They will now look to end the unwanted streak but we don’t see them doing so and we’ll now rather go with Barcelona to shut them down. We haven’t seen Blaugrana as convincing, though, and we’re sticking our necks out for a Home win and Under 2.5 Goals FT at 16/5 with Paddy Power.
Eibar have struggled to create and convert chances and this will be just as worrying ahead of their trip. We do feel Barcelona will be able to keep it together at the back here and we’ll back them to keep a clean sheet as well, going for it at 10/11 with bet365.
