Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid Match Preview
Atletico Madrid sit eight points behind La Liga pace-setters after connecting a two-match streak with a 2-0 win over Girona earlier this week, now travelling to Barcelona for their Matchday 31 derby clash hoping to build on the success and further close in with an upset at Camp Nou.
Atleti have thus finally put the Champions League exit in the hands of Juventus (3-0) behind them, rediscovering their fine form with confident displays against Deportivo Alaves (0-4) and Girona (2-0) – where late goals from Diego Godin and Antoine Griezmann proved enough.
Barcelona have, on the other hand, slipped up at Villarreal (4-4) and only late goals from Messi and Suarez saved them from a complete shock as they saw a four-match winning streak ended once again. They’ve been rock-solid up front but Ernesto Valverde gambled with the defensive line and this proved costly, which could make troubles ahead of the weekend clash as well.
Blaugrana have conceded at least a goal in five of their last six outings and this will be even more worrying, as Atleti look to capitalize on the shaken ground at Camp Nou. The home side still seem to be in a better place but Diego Simeone and his men obviously have a lot more to build on than some suggested.
We will thus stick our necks out for them to leave unbeaten and going for a Double Chance – Draw or Away win feels like a great value at 11/10 with bet365. We’ve seen them do so in two of their last three trips here and we feel they can build on the 1-1 draw at Wanda Metropolitano earlier this term.
A lot will surely depend on their defensive display on the day and with that in mind, we’re now going for another low-scoring contest between the sides too. We’ll thus go for Under 2.5 Goals FT at 10/11 with Paddy Power, which has caught the eye of many in the know already as well.
