Bahia vs Fluminense Match Preview
Fluminense bagged two thriller wins over the past seven days and now travel to Bahia for their Matchday 6 clash hoping to build on such performances, having outclassed Cruzeiro (4-1) in Serie A and Atletico Nacional (4-1) in Copa Sudamericana as in-form Joao Pedro led the attacking line.
Flu have struggled for such consistency and have a hard task looking to build on it, as they opened the campaign with a 2-1 loss at Santos and bounced with a 4-5 win at Gremio which also emphasized the defensive woes Fernando Diniz struggled to find a cure for.
Bahia have, on the other hand, been very tough to score against lately and now come into the match on the back of a 0-1 Copa do Brasil win over Sao Paulo. They’ve kept three clean sheets in four outings as they bagged a narrow win over Avai (1-0), a goalless league draw at Sao Paulo and only suffered a 1-0 loss at Athletico Paranaense along the way.
Tricolor Bahiaco have been just great at home ground and will now have a lot to build on as well, as they look for their eighth win in a row across competitions. They’ve scored goals when they were forced into exciting clashes, though, and we feel this could be another such occasion.
We will still back them to secure the points and going for Bahia to win feels like value at 19/20 with William Hill, especially seeing their seven-match winning streak here going back as far as late March.
However, Flu come into the match on the back of a couple of high-scoring clashes and we now hope for more of the same, as we also back Over 2.5 Goals FT at 6/5 with Paddy Power. We’ve seen the visitors enjoy such clashes lately and this could mean the only way for Bahia to win.
