Austria U21 vs Germany U21 Predictions

Austria are hoping that the next generation of stars can deliver on the big stage after the likes of David Alaba and Marko Arnautovic have struggled to lead a so-called generation to glory in recent years. The likes of Philipp Lienhart and Mathias Honsak have the potential to add to the first team already but they’ll be hoping that this summer’s tournament in Italy can provide them with the experience required to make a difference at the top level.

Goals from Hannes Wolf and Sascha Horvath handed Burschen a 2-0 win over Serbia in their opening match but they couldn’t follow that up against Denmark as they fell to a 3-1 defeat. Werner Gregoritsch’s young charges need to pick up three points in their final game to stand any chance of progression but against Germany it will be very difficult, hence odds of 5/1 with William Hill.

Germany are among the favourites for the UEFA Under 21 Championship  this time around. Die Nationalelf are the holders of the tournament and have won it on two previous occasions and given the disappointment that the first team endured at last year’s World Cup in Russia, there will be a host of talented young stars that will feel they can stake a claim for a call up to the main squad with good performances in this tournament.

And there have been plenty of good performances from Stefan Kuntz’s side so far in this tournament. A solid start saw them get underway with a 3-1 victory over Denmark but die Mannschaft have really turned on the heat in their second game, smashing Serbia by a 6-1 margin. Can they secure the top spot in the group and a route to the semi-finals with another win here at odds of 1/2 with Coral.

Despite the confident and comfortable nature of those two victories, it’s worth noting that Germany have failed to keep clean sheets in both fixtures. It’s fair to say that this Austria side do carry a threat going forward too, as they’ve scored three goals in their group stage two matches, despite only picking up three points. You can back Nationalelf to win and both teams to score along with us at odds of 15/8 with Bet365.

Luca Waldschmidt bagged a hat-trick in die Mannschaft’s 6-1 thumping of Serbia. The Freiburg striker is on great form, scoring in the win over Denmark too to take his tally for the Germany Under 21s side to seven goals in 12 caps. We’re not missing odds of 5/4 from PaddyPower on the 23 year old to get on the scoresheet in this game after his start to the tournament.
