Atletico Madrid vs Sevilla Match Preview
Sevilla travel on a tough trip to Madrid on Sunday afternoon with a lot more to play for, as they sit three points behind 4th placed Getafe and look desperate for points to challenge Champions League spots very late in the campaign.
Sevillistas have to recuperate after two consecutive losses, though, after both Girona (1-0) and Leganes (0-3) snatched the points. Joaquin Caparros has obviously struggled to find a cure for their inconsistency in the final third, as his men bagged five in a win over Rayo Vallecano but also failed to find the net at all in losses to Getafe (3-0), Girona (1-0), and Leganes (0-3) along the way.
Atletico Madrid have no high stakes to play for but this will surely not have Diego Simeone’s men complacent, as they saw a disappointing 3-0 loss at Espanyol end their four-match winning streak last week. They will not want to see anything similar last time out at Wanda Metropolitano and we feel this will make it tough for the visitors.
Atleti have seen nothing but wins in their last seven home outings since mid-February, as they beat Juventus (2-0), Villarreal (2-0), Lega (1-0), Girona (2-0), Celta (2-0), Valencia (3-2), and most recently Valladolid (1-0) – proving their worth at the back and regularly basing success on such an approach.
Indeed, Sevilla will now have to top themselves in a search of points but we’re now sticking our necks out for them to snatch one, as we go for a Draw at 13/5 with bet365 and hope for a deadlock very tough to break.
With that in mind, we’re also going for a low-scoring clash and Under 2.5 Goals FT at 10/11 with Paddy Power. We’ve seen Atleti regularly put on such displays here and we now hope for more of the same despite the visitors’ obviously greater need for a positive result.
