Atletico Madrid will be feeling slightly deflated after the last couple of weeks have put a huge dent in their title aspirations over in La Liga. Back-to-back defeats, firstly to Real Betis and then their city rivals Real Madrid have been los Colchoneros slip down to third place in the table and seen the gap between themselves and current leaders Barcelona open up to seven points, meaning Diego Simeone may now turn his attentions to the Champions League.
The Argentinian boss has come close to winning this trophy in the past, twice taking Real Madrid to Extra Time in the final before losing out on both occasions, but Atleti did taste European success last season by winning the Europa League trophy last season and after navigating a potentially tricky group stage to progress alongside Borussia Dortmund you can back them to take a first-leg lead by winning this match at odds of 17/9 with Unibet.
Juventus have their sights set on as much silverware as possible this season. The Old Lady have been the dominant force in Italian football in recent years and have faced few issues in retaining the Scudetto in the last few campaigns, and that looks set to be the case once again as with 23 games on the board they have already amassed an 11 point lead at the top but can they now get their hands on the trophy that has eluded them since 1996, the Champions League?
It wasn’t the easiest of rides for Massimiliano Allegri and his side in the group stages as Cristiano Ronaldo was sent off on his European debut and the side lost games to both Manchester United and Young Boys, but did manage to qualify from the group to set up this tie with Atletico. We don’t anticipate the most open game of football here. During his time in Madrid, Diego Simeone has been known for making this side difficult to break down but in Juventus they come up against a team with a phenomenal defensive record both domestically and in continental competition. Despite being away from home, we can see Juventus edging out a narrow away win here.
