Atlanta United vs Orlando City Match Preview
Atlanta United have been in great shape lately and they host Orlando City for their Sunday’s clash on the back of a three-match winning streak, where they beat Colorado Rapids (1-0), Sporting KC (0-3), and Toronto (2-0) with great confidence since late April.
Five Stripes have based their success on fine defensive displays before anything else and they’ve kept clean sheets on all of those occasions, as Frank de Boer boasts such an approach despite a shaky start of the campaign. They sit six points behind the top of the Eastern Conference table with two games in hand to pace-setters Philadelphia, which will have them very motivated to keep it up as well.
Orlando City have seen no such consistency, though, and will have more on their mind ahead of the trip to Mercedes-Benz Stadium. They’ve last seen any two same results in a row when they shared the spoils with New York City (2-2) and Chicago Fire (1-1) early in the campaign, now sitting two points behind Atlanta on the league table.
Lions have seen a 0-2 home loss to Toronto last week and failed to build on the two-game unbeaten streak too, after narrowly beating Whitecaps (1-0) and holding New York City to a 1-1 draw. They haven’t really been convincing in the final third and this could be a problem for James O’Connor as his men look to make the top 7 cut.
We will now back Atlanta to capitalize on such troubles on the rivals’ end and we’ll go for a Home win to Nil, which comes at an eye-catching 15/8 with bet365 and stands in line with our claim of Orlando’s struggles up front.
We don’t feel we’re in for many goals on Atlanta’s end either, though, and with that in mind – we’re now also sticking our necks out for a low-scoring contest with Under 2.5 Goals FT at 6/4 with Paddy Power.
