Atlanta United vs New England Revolution Match Preview
Atlanta United stormed past New England Revolution (3-1) on Decision Day as Julian Gressel led an in-form side with two assists and a goal, where Cristian Penilla’s goal proved nothing more than a consolation for the visitors. They now host the rivals for their Play-offs clash hoping for a similar display of power and we expect them just as motivated.
Five Stripes have been furious at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and they’ve been denied a win just once in their last ten outings here (1-3 loss to Columbus Crew), which gives the crowd a lot to hope for once again. They’ve been scoring numbers of goals too and conceding on the regular wasn’t a worry, as Frank de Boer’s men managed to outgun rivals in such a streak.
New England Revolution now obviously have more to play for and they’ll have to look for an upset despite a very unpredictable spell of form late in the regular campaign. They managed just one win (2-0 over New York City) in seven outings since early September and while this was enough for a top 7 spot, it makes a big question mark over the dressing rooms spirits.
Revs have bagged at least a goal on all of their last 12 trips, though, and we expect them to employ an attacking approach and go for a win here too. Still, they haven’t bagged one in six away games (with four draws and just one loss ahead of their last trip to Atlanta) and making it happen now will be no easy task.
We feel Atlanta United will now be able to show off and justify their role of heavy betting favourites to win in another exciting head-to-head clash. We’ll thus go for the Home win here and Over 2.5 Goals FT, which combines to an enticing 4/5 with Paddy Power.
Indeed, Five Stripes haven’t felt very stable at the back and with that in mind, we’re now also going for a Yes on Both teams to score at 8/15 with William Hill. Revs have seen goals coming from all directions and should still have their say on the day as well.
