Aston Villa vs Middlesbrough Match Preview
Aston Villa continued their late march to the play-offs with a 3-1 success at Nottingham Forest in midweek thanks to a John McGinn brace. They now sit eighth which has them two points behind Derby who are sixth and four behind Boro in fifth.
At Villa Park, the Midlands outfit have lost just one of their last five but have won just two of nine. Tammy Abraham has a great scoring record here with 13 from his last ten appearances in the league.
Middlesbrough suffered their second successive loss going down 2-1 at home to Preston on Wednesday night. Just one point from their last three fixtures means they are looking over their shoulders at the chasing pack in the play-off race.
Away from the Riverside, the Teesiders have been doing well with just one defeat in the last seven and two in 13. Their road fixtures have been tight with a combined two goals from their last three.
The hosts looks a great bet here given they have won three straight and the visitors have lost their last two. While Boro are doing well on the road and Villa are struggling at home I prefer to give with the form of the last few games and take a home win.
Tammy Abraham will also welcome the return home given he has 13 from his last ten at Villa Park and with Jack Grealish pulling the strings and confidence high I think he looks a good bet to net at any time.
