Aston Villa vs Ipswich Match Preview
Aston Villa host struggling Ipswich for their Matchday 29 Championship clash looking to capitalize on their woes and end a five-match winless streak, where they completed a comeback in a 2-2 draw against Hull City just last week to end a streak of two losses after being beaten by both Swansea (0-3) and Wigan (3-0).
Villans will now be desperate to finally find their best form in front of the home fans with a top 6 spot slipping through their fingers, as Kevin MacDonald’s men sit seven points behind Derby County at the 6th. They have proven themselves as a tougher side to beat at Villa Park but have a lot to prove if they’re to finally pick it up.
The clash against Ipswich does feel like a good opportunity to do so, though, as the visitors come into the match with a 2-0 loss at Blackburn behind them. This was their eighth loss in nine trips and just a 2-2 draw at Reading will hardly be a confidence booster after failing to find the net on all of those occasions!
Blues have had more success at home ground lately but they’re still a long way from escaping the relegation zone, which will have them just as desperate for points. However, causing an upset in Birmingham should be a tough task and overcoming their goalscoring woes feels like a longshot.
We’ll back Aston Villa to bag all three points and capitalize on the visitors’ woes, as we go for a Home win to Nil at 31/10 with BetVictor. Villans have struggled to keep it together at the back but we do see them doing so against troubled rivals at this point.
We thus hope not to see many goals at Villa Park and we’ll now also go for Under 2.5 Goals FT at Evens with Coral, hoping not to see an early opener which would surely turn this into a more exciting clash. We have seen Blues still pose a defensive challenge on the road and hope for the same here.
