Arsenal’s first season since the long reign of Arsene Wenger has been relatively disappointing so far. The Gunners may have enjoyed a magnificent 22 game unbeaten run in all competitions earlier in the campaign but a lack of consistency has seriously held back Unai Emery in his first term in charge of the club and as things stand they sit in fifth place in the Premier League table having been knocked out of both domestic cups and with their Europa League chances teetering on the bring.

Just three days before this clash the North Londoners will look to come from behind against Belarusian side BATE Borisov in European competition but then focus returns to the league and the fight to return to the Champions League. Emery’s men have managed just one win in their last seven away games in the Premier League but have been in better form in front of their own supporters and they are favourites for the win on Sunday at odds of 9/20 with bet365.

Southampton just about managed to avoid relegation to the Championship last season after something of a new manager bounce under Mark Hughes was just about enough to keep their heads above water in the back end of the campaign. The former Stoke City and Manchester City boss was unable to take any momentum from that improved form into the season though and it came as little surprise when he was eventually removed as manager and replaced by Austrian boss Ralph Hassenhuttl.

Under their new manager, the Saints have so far played some better football and have picked up some impressive results along the way, perhaps the most eye-catching of all a 3-2 victory over the Gunners in the reverse of this fixture back in December. However, the Hampshire outfit make the trip to the capital on Sunday having won only two of their last eight in all competitions and having never won a league game at the Emirates before, so they’re out at 6/1 for the three points with William Hill.
