Nottingham Forest have made a strong start to the season but face much their biggest test so far when they visit Arsenal in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
Sabri Lamouchi, who managed the Ivory Coast at the 2014 World Cup, was surprisingly appointed Forest boss in the summer when they dispensed with Martin O’Neill’s services, and the Frenchman has got off to something of a flyer in his first job in English football.
Since a narrow defeat to West Brom on the opening day of the campaign Forest have remained unbeaten, are sixth in the Championship table and have yet to concede a goal in this competition after home victories against Fleetwood and their arch-rivals Derby County.
Their away form has been excellent too, with wins against promotion hopefuls Fulham and Swansea and draws at two of the early front-runners, Leeds and Charlton.
However, this represents a big step up against an Arsenal side who are likely to field a strong team based on what Unai Emery did last term compared to his predecessor Arsene Wenger’s policy of blooding several youngsters each season in the League Cup.
For instance, Mesut Ozil was surprisingly left on the bench for Sunday’s 3-2 success against Aston Villa and assuming the German will line up here alongside the likes of Lucas Torreira, Calum Chambers and Reiss Nelson, the Gunners are expected to have too much quality.
