Arsenal vs Manchester United Match Preview
Manchester United have already knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup at the Emirates Stadium this season and are now aiming to make it a perfect 10 on their travels under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The incredible transformation in the Red Devils since Jose Mourinho’s departure hit new heights this week when they recovered from a 2-0 first-leg deficit to reach the Champions League quarter-finals with a 3-1 triumph away to Paris Saint-Germain.
Solskjaer’s magic touch even extended to achieving that historic feat – the first time a two-goal home deficit had ever been overcome in a Champions League knockout tie – with 10 players sidelined and two teenagers with a combined total of 29 minutes of senior-team experience on the pitch when the winning goal was scored!
Now attention turns back to domestic matters and the chase for a Premier League top-four place, with both of these clubs vying with Tottenham and Chelsea for two places in next season’s Champions League.
Defeat would not be a disaster for either, but victory a huge boost especially if it was for United as it would put them four points clear of the Gunners.
United will have Paul Pogba back after his suspension against PSG, but at the time of writing it was unclear as to whether any of their injured contingent would be fit to return. Anthony Martial, who scored in the FA Cup success over Arsenal, was among the more likely.
Opposing United on the road in 2019 has been a route to the poorhouse and is a dangerous policy again here, but Arsenal have been very solid at home in the league this season and it is backed to end with honours even this time.
