Arsenal vs Leeds Predictions
Arsenal got their first win under Mikel Arteta last time out in a famous victory over Manchester United. The Spanish boss, in his first job in the hot-seat following a spell as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City, endured a difficult start with no wins in his first three games. Perhaps this was to be expected following some dreadful form under previous manager Unai Emery and his short-term replacement Freddie Ljungberg.
As things stand, the Gunners sit firmly in mid-table in the Premier League and with any notions of a title race completely out of the question and the gap between themselves and the top four currently standing at nine points, Arteta may choose to place more importance on the cup competitions in the remainder of this campaign. The Europa League is still there to play for, but for now focus will be on advancing in the FA Cup for the Londoners with a win here at 4/9 with Unibet.
Leeds United are looking to earn a long-awaited return to the Premier League this season. Having come so close to a top two finish last year only to lose out in the play-offs, the Whites have been in emphatic form in the Championship this time around with a 1-1 draw at West Brom last time out leaving them top of the table on goal difference and nine points clear of Brentford in third.
With automatic promotion starting to look more and more likely by the week, there’s no doubt that popular boss Marcelo Bielsa will be desperate to use the FA Cup as a way to test his squad’s Premier League credentials although he may also rotate some of his players for the trip to North London. The travelling supporters will be keen to see their side put on a show here and beat Arsenal for the first time in seven meetings at odds of 6/1 with Ladbrokes.
With the attacking talent they have in their squad, Leeds will fancy themselves to cause Arsenal problems in this game. The Whites haven’t failed to score in any of their last 12 games, whilst the Gunners have managed to keep just one clean sheet in their last nine matches. We still think, with the home advantage, that Mikel Arteta’s men will get the win – but we’re backing them on the match result and both teams to score market at odds of 15/8 with Bet365.
Nicolas Pepe has not exactly had the desired impact since arriving at Arsenal for a club record transfer fee from Lille this summer. The Ivorian has started to look more threatening in recent weeks though and after scoring in that win over the Red Devils last weekend, we fancy him to get on the scoresheet again in this one at odds of 2/1 with Unibet.
