Arsenal vs Crystal Palace Match Preview
Crystal Palace were the last visiting team to win at the Emirates Stadium – but we do not see them bookending Arsenal’s unbeaten sequence with another victory on Sunday.
The Eagles had only 27% possession but created the majority of chances when they triumphed 3-2 at this venue in April for their first victory away to Arsenal since 1994.
But although the Gunners needed two stunning direct free-kicks from Nicolas Pepe in the last 10 minutes to overturn a 2-1 deficit against Vitoria Guimaraes in Thursday’s Europa League match, they are generally pretty reliable on their own pitch.
Mind you, it should be pointed out that manager Unai Emery’s current first XI, the vast majority of whom did not start against Vitoria, lost 1-0 at Sheffield United on Monday so it’s not as though backing Arsenal just now has any guarantees.
Palace will be very happy with their season so far, entering the weekend sixth in the table, and they have already enjoyed a couple of away successes at Manchester United and West Ham by 2-1 scorelines.
There could be a goal for them here, but this time we think Palace will be on the wrong end of a 2-1 result with Alexandre Lacazette set to be involved again for Arsenal after making his first start since September 1 on Thursday following his recovery from injury.
