Arsenal vs Chelsea Match Preview
Arsenal host Chelsea for their Matchday 20 derby clash on Sunday afternoon, just days after their Boxing Day trip to Bournemouth, desperate for pick-me-ups and points in an attempt to catch up with the top 4. They now sit nine points behind Chelsea and surely hope Mikel Arteta can make an immediate impact.
Indeed, Gunners have struggled for a goalscoring consistency and we’ve seen them fail to find the net in both of the last two outings, where they were comfortably beaten by Man City (0-3) and held off by Everton (0-0). They haven’t seen a home win since late October and defensive shortcoming could prove even more worrying at Emirates, with ten goals conceded in five games.
Chelsea will now hope to capitalize and while they’ve struggled for consistency just as much, Frank Lampard has more to be happy about. They beat Tottenham (0-2) with a brace from Willian last week and will now surely hope to build on such a performance, hosting Southampton just days beforehand.
Blues have only ended a three-match winless streak with the upset at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, though, which could be more of a worry on their minds. They’ve seen Man City (2-1) and Everton (3-1) bag all three points since the November International break and shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at Valencia along the way, which saw both sides through to the knockout stages later on.
We have seen them scoring goals on the regular and while they’ve had troubles with Southampton midway through the week, we’ll now surely see them very motivated. We still hope Arsenal will have enough to hold them off and secure at least a point, as we go for a Double Chance – Home win or Draw at 8/13 with William Hill.
We do hope to see goals on both ends and we’ve been used to such head-to-head clashes lately too. We’re thus also going for a Yes on Both teams to score, which seems like a very solid approach to the fixture and comes at 1/2 with William Hill
