Arsenal vs Cardiff City Match Preview
Cardiff City return to action after a harrowing week with a match in which it will be very difficult for them to improve their prospects of avoiding relegation from the Premier League.
The Welsh club have been enduring the worst kind of situation after their new £15million signing Emiliano Sala went missing, presumed fatally, on a private charter flight from France undertaken with the intention of reporting for his first day of training.
Naturally the mood around the club will have been sombre ever since and it was something of a blessing that the Bluebirds were already out of the FA Cup, therefore not having a fixture scheduled for when emotions were still so raw.
But life has to go on and Cardiff travel to the Emirates Stadium trying to lift themselves out of the drop zone, which they have slipped into due to a lack of goals scored – and that is why the transfer of Sala, third top scorer in Ligue 1 this term at the time, had been completed.
A bit like when Leicester won away to Cardiff the week after the death of their owner in a helicopter crash, Neil Warnock’s players could be galvanised here. However, the difference in quality between these teams suggests the best they can hope for is not to lose too heavily.
