Argentina Women make their return to the finals of the World Cup after missing out on the last two tournaments in Canada and Germany. Albicelestes had reached the two consecutive tournaments that came previously and they have had some success in regional tournaments too, winning one Sudamericano Femenino and reaching the semi-final stage in the last two Copa América Femenina competitions.

After securing their route through to France with a 5-1 aggregate victory over Panama in the play-offs, preparation hasn’t exactly been perfect for Carlos Borrello’s side. They may have won their final friendly against fellow South American outfit Uruguay, but they lost all three of their FFA Cup of Nations fixtures earlier this year to Korea PR, New Zealand and Australia. Japan have become one of the strongest teams in Women’s Football over the last few years.
