Argentina vs Chile Match Preview
Argentina will feel they’ve deserved more as they fell victims in a 2-0 loss to hosts Brazil and now have to put it behind themselves as they meet Chile for their 3rd place play-off, looking to at least end the competition in good spirits regardless of another disappointing Copa America campaign all-around.
Ironically, many have rated the semi-finals loss the Albiceleste’s best performance in the tournament, as they obviously took confidence from wins over Qatar (2-0) and Venezuela (2-0). This just wasn’t enough as Brazil converted their chances at the worst possible time for Leo Scaloni and his men, which has had the country in tears once again.
Chile seemingly have less pressure on them although they’ve seen a comfortable 3-0 loss to Peru in the semi-finals as the defending Champions failed to make it their third Final in a row, after edging Argentina in 2015 and 2016 to bag the titles on both occasions.
La Roja still have a lot to be happy about as they prove themselves one of the best sides in South America time and time again. However, they’ve struggled to convert after a great start of the competition and now look to end a three-match goalscoring drought – after failing to make it on the scoresheet against Uruguay and Colombia too.
They will now want to keep up their great Copa America streak against Argentina and will surely play for pride here but we don’t feel Chile have what it takes to beat the rivals. We will rather stick with Argentina to turn a narrow clash their way and make it to the 3rd spot with a win priced at 5/6 with Coral.
Still, we feel we’re in for a very tough contest and we don’t expect as many goals on the day either, as we now back Under 2.5 Goals FT at Evens with Ladbrokes. We’ve got used to such clashes on both ends lately and this feels like great value.
