Amiens vs Guingamp Match Preview
Amiens host rock-bottomed Guingamp on the Final day of the campaign in need of points to secure the top-flight survival, with 18th placed Caen breathing down their necks and just two points behind. They have a lengthy winless streak behind them but have proven themselves a very tough nut to crack at Stade de la Licorne, now surely hoping to do just the same.
Indeed, Les Licornes last saw a home loss back in late January (0-1 to Lyon) and bagged three wins and four draws in a row since then, including goalless occasions against Strasbourg in late April and Toulouse in early May. We now hope to see them keep such consistency and show they have a lot more to play for on the day.
Guingamp struggled to turn clashes their way just as much lately and this has seen them out of the battle for survival early, despite seeing out draws against Caen (0-0), Rennes (1-1), and Nimes (2-2) in May. They’ve Jocelyn Gourvennec has struggled to find a cure for their woes and this has been obvious despite tougher challenges they’ve put on recently.
EAG haven’t been able to produce on the road for a long time and this will be just as worrying, as they failed to find the net in four of their last six trips. Amiens will, on the other hand, want to capitalize and we do see them making it happen.
We’ll thus stick with Amiens to secure all-important points on Friday evening and we’ll go for a Home win at 8/15 with Paddy Power, which has been rated buying money for old rope by many in the know – as Guingamp’s woes seem overwhelming.
We’ve seen the visitors struggling up front and with that in mind, we’ll now also back Amiens to keep a clean sheet at 10/11 with William Hill in hope they’ll want to base such success on a tough defensive display before anything else.
