Ajax vs Watford Match Preview
Watford open their pre-season campaign in Austria with a clash against the Champions League semi-finalists Ajax, hoping to kick-start the campaign in good spirits despite it just being a friendly as Javi Gracia looks to see his side take glimpses of the shape he wants in early August.
Hornets have struggled late last term and saw four consecutive losses from late April to mid-May, which will make regaining team spirits and competitive form a must. They’ve been conceding numbers of goals along the way and it feels Ajax will be a great test, with Leverkusen, QPR, and Real Sociedad following it.
Ajax who have seen very a busy summer and now have a lot to think about in the market, seeing Frankie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt, and four others leave the club already. New leaders will be needed as the huge talent pool flourishes but many of their stars will still not be available for extended holidays after Africa Cup of Nations.
De Godenzonen have already played three games and this could be felt on the pitch, after they beat Quick ’20 (2-11), Istanbul Basaksehir (2-1), and saw a 1-1 draw against AaB along the way. They have been conceding goals, though, and this makes for an exciting contest now as well.
We will stick our necks out for Ajax to show off as tough rivals they are and turn the clash at Saalfelden Arena their way, as we go for them to win and a Yes on Both teams to score at 21/10 with bet365 – which seems great value at this point.
Indeed, they’ve struggled to keep clean sheets lately and this could be a direct consequence of de Ligt’s move, as they need to rediscover the consistency at the back. With that in mind, we’re now going for another high-scoring contest on their end and backing Over 2.5 Goals FT at 3/5 with bet365 too.
