Ajax vs Sparta Rotterdam Match Preview
Ajax host Sparta Rotterdam for their Matchday 19 clash as they return to Eredivisie after a month-long break, having rediscovered their consistency by beating Telstar (3-4 in KNVB Beker) and ADO Den Haag (6-1 in Eredivisie) ahead of it as well as AS Eupen (2-0) and Club Brugge (3-1) in friendlies since.
De Godenzonen have seen a troubled streak beforehand as they saw Willem II (0-2) and AZ (1-0) snatch important league points and crashed out of Champions League with a home loss to Valencia (0-1) along the way. They have now been scoring numbers of goals, though, and we expect them in a good mood at this point.
Sparta Rotterdam shocked AZ (3-0) and denied them shared top spot over the break, which will have them just as motivated for an upset now. They sit six points behind the top 7 and will have high hopes of challenging the cut with a more lenient schedule to follow.
However, Red-White Gladiators have struggled for consistency and have a lot yet to prove. They’ve seen comfortable losses at Emmen (2-0) and Willem II (3-0) beforehand and getting a better result on their trip to Johan Cruijff Arena (where they last snatched a point over a decade ago) will be a very tough task indeed.
We feel Ajax will have what it takes to outclass the visitors now as well and we will back them to do so with confidence, going for a Home win to Nil at Evens with BetVictor and hoping to see a one-sided contest on Sunday afternoon.
We should still be in for goals and with that in mind, going for a high-scoring occasion feels like buying money for old rope. We’ve seen four or more goals in three of the last four head-to-head clashes and we’re going for another here with Over 3.5 Goals FT priced at 1/2 with Paddy Power.
