Ajax vs Juventus Fansbet Preview

It was an impressive display from Ajax in the last 16 as they knocked out winners of four of the last five editions, Real Madrid, despite losing the opening leg 2-1 at home. They were solid in the group stages too, as they won half their six unbeaten matches and could’ve topped their group if they hadn’t let their one-goal lead slip in the final eight minutes when hosting Bayern on matchday six.

Meanwhile, Juventus topped their group, though they did have a serious scare in the last round as Atletico beat them 2-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano, only for them to valiantly fight back and qualify in the second leg thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick.

Ajax vs Juventus Match Preview

Ajax took full advantage of an ailing Real Madrid side in the previous round, but Juventus are expected to prove a much sterner proposition in this Champions League quarter-final.

Despite losing 2-1 at home, when they were actually the better team, Ajax pulled off a stunning 4-1 upset at the Bernabeu Stadium to dethrone the three times consecutive kings of Europe, producing two breathtaking displays of football to thoroughly deserve their triumph.

But that was not the Real Madrid of Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo, and instead the Portuguese superstar will line up against Ajax for Juventus, who are in a much better moment all round than his labouring former club.

Juventus, it must be remembered, lost the first leg of their round-of-16 tie 2-0 away to Atletico Madrid, but Ronaldo typically turned things upside down with a brilliant hat-trick in Turin.

Since the last round, both of these clubs have had perfect records apart from one shock defeat away from home, so little has changed in terms of their form.

While Ajax will fear nobody after the way they took apart Real, it is difficult to see Juve crumbling like the defending champions did and with Ronaldo back from the injury he sustained on international duty with Portugal they are fancied to win in Amsterdam.
