AC Milan vs SPAL Match Preview
AC Milan finally ended their winless streak as they beat Cagliari (0-2) as Raphael Leao opened the scoresheet and Zlatan Ibrahimovic marked his full debut back in the club with a goal in the second half. They now host SPAL for their Coppa Italia clash hoping to build on the performance and connect two in a row, making their way past the Serie A strugglers.
Rossoneri have struggled to score goals and bringing in Zlatan feels like a great solution to their trouble, despite being a short-term one. We have seen a side breathing more cohesion and synergy, which Stefano Pioli recognized just as much. His men will now surely be confident and come as heavy favourites for a reason.
However, SPAL have given Milan a run for the money more than once and while they sit rock-bottomed in Serie A, many big guns had troubles with them. Milan beat them 1-0 here in late October and many expect a tough challenge once again, despite a lot on Leonardo Semplici’s mind.
The visitors saw losses to Brescia (0-1), Roma (3-1), Hellas Verona (0-2) and Fiorentina (1-0 most recently) since early December, only interrupting the streak with an upset at Torino (1-2) ahead of the holiday break. They have struggled to score goals on the regular, though, and this could be even more worrying.
We thus feel AC Milan will be able to make it count and connect their second win in a row here, which we expect to be based on a tough defensive approach once again as we go for a Home win to Nil at 11/8 with bet365.
We don’t really feel we’ll see a one-sided contest and SPAL should prove themselves a tough nut to crack once again. With that in mind, we’re also hoping for few goals and backing Under 2.5 Goals FT, which comes at Evens with William Hill and has caught the eye of many already.
