  • Over 2.5 Goals: Yes
  • First Goalscorer: Florian Wirtz

Frankfurt vs Bayer Leverkusen Tips

Tip 1

Patrick Schick is Leverkusen’s leading scorer this season with 15 goals in 20 Bundesliga games but Germany international Florian Wirtz has chipped in with plenty of important strikes and has nine league goals.

Wirtz rarely goes more than a handful of games without getting on the scoresheet and his last contribution came in the Champions League win over Sparta Prague four weeks ago. He looks capable of scoring against Eintracht, as he did in Leverkusen’s 3-0 home win against them last season.

Tip 2

Leverkusen’s points tally last season was almost double Eintracht Frankfurt’s (90-47) and while they are not likely to retain their title they should put further distance between themselves and their closest rivals.

Leverkusen won 2-1 in the teams’ first meeting this season and remain in solid form with only one league defeat. They have not lost in 11 league road trips and should show they are still a class above Frankfurt, who have not looked as dangerous since losing star forward Omar Marmoush to reigning Premier League champions Manchester City in January.

Frankfurt Form, Team News & Predicted Line-Up

Frankfurt are doing well under manager Dino Toppmoller, who has been their coach since the start of last season. Their form has dropped off over the last month, with a 3-1 home win over bottom side Holstein Kiel being their only success in their last six matches.

In that time they drew with Hoffenheim, Wolfsburg and Borussia Monchengladbach, but lost to Roma in the Europa League and were thrashed 4-0 by leaders Bayern Munich last week.

They have lost only one of their 11 home league matches this season, that defeat coming against Mainz, and have a Europa League last-16 clash against Ajax coming up on Thursday.

Eintracht are not expected to have Robin Koch, Igor Matanovic or Junior Dina Embimbe available for this match due to injuries.

Frankfurt Predicted XI: Trapp; Kristensen, Koch, Theate; Collins, Larrson, Skhiri, Gotze, Brown; Ekitiki, Uzun.

Bayer Leverkusen Form, Team News & Predicted Line-Up

Both teams have plenty of work to do to catch leaders Bayern Munich, but Leverkusen are eight points ahead of their hosts and looking to take an even firmer grip on second spot.

Leverkusen stormed to the Bundesliga title last season with an incredible unbeaten league campaign and while they are only second in the standings this time, they remain extremely hard to beat.

Xabi Alonso’s side lost their first Bundesliga match this season with a 3-2 home defeat by RB Leipzig but they have been unbeaten in the league since and are yet to lose in 11 domestic away games.

The only other losses they have suffered this season have been in the Champions League to elite teams Liverpool and Atletico Madrid and they have yet to lose in three meetings with Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich, drawing home and away in the league and winning 1-0 in the cup.

Martin Terrier and Jeanuel Belocian are likely to be their only absentees for this match due to injury.

Bayer Leverkusen Predicted XI: Hradecky; Tapsoba, Tah, Hermoso; Frimpong, Palacios, Xhaka, Grimaldo; Schick, Boniface, Wirtz.

Frankfurt vs Bayer Leverkusen Head-to-Head Record

Leverkusen have won their last four meetings with Eintracht Frankfurt by convincing scores of 3-1, 3-0 and 5-1 before the 2-1 home win in October. Omar Marmoush put Frankfurt ahead in that match but the hosts hit back through Robert Andrich and Victor Boniface, who has scored in the last three meetings between the teams.

There have been three or more goals scored in 14 of the last 15 matches between these sides.
