Neymar backed to success by Brazil legends

  • Brazil have seen a disappointing exit in semi-finals against Germany in front of the home fans
  • Tite took over the side and Brazil impressed in South American Qualifiers
  • Is this a chance for Neymar to lead the side to historic success in Russia?
Neymar Jr of Brazil

Brazil have disappointed in 2014, seeing a 1-7 loss in the semi-finals and failing to make the top 3, surely travelling to Russia in hope they can make up just four years later.

After the humiliation in the hands of Germany (1-7) four years ago, Brazil go to Russia hoping for World Cup redemption. Star-studded Canarinho will now be led by Neymar, who has missed the Belo Horizonte nightmare as well as a 0-3 loss to the Netherlands in the battle for the 3rd spot with an injury. It does feel Tite's men are in better shape at this point but do they have enough depth in quality?

Nothing short of winning the World Cup is considered a success in Brazil and we can all remember the tears around the Estadio Governador Magalhaes Pinto, as Muller, Klose, Kroos (2x), Khedira, and Schurrle (2x) all found the net and shown off as an inexorable outfit – going on to win the tournament in extra time against Argentina. Few have seen anything like it in their lifetime and the South Americans have to bounce back quick.

The 2018 World Cup Qualifiers

Brazil have now topped the South American Qualifiers sitting ten points in the clear and secured the spot in the final tournament months before the end of the campaign. While other big guns largely struggled for their spots, Tite's men impressed both at the back and in the final third so many see them as one of the prime favourites to bag the silverware.

What does Pele have to say?

Among Brazilian footballing legends, Pele has been one of the prominent supporters and he's told Hublot Neymar “is a good player” and that the trip to Russia serves as a “great, great opportunity for him to recover“. “Let's see if he can help Brazil this World Cup!”
