West Ham United v Chelsea Premier League predictions, betting tips and match preview here. Can the Blues keep within touching distance of the top two by securing three points from this London derby against the Hammers?

  • Chelsea meanwhile have won six and drawn one of their last seven
  • The Hammers have won just one of their last nine league games vs the Blues

West Ham v Chelsea betting preview

West Ham United are struggling towards the lower reaches of the Premier League table and as such, it came as little surprise when the club moved to replace Slaven Bilic in the dugout at the London Stadium. The choice of replacement, former Sunderland boss David Moyes, did however raise some eyebrows and some supporters have voiced their displeasure at this choice as the Scottish boss has endured a torrid time in his last three jobs at the Stadium of Light and prior to that with Real Sociedad and Manchester United.

Thus far, Moyes has been unable to lift the spirits of the Hammers fanbase and the club have lost three and drawn one of their first four Premier League matches under him. As such, the Londoners now find themselves in second bottom position in the table, but with players like Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic who both signed over the summer, they have the quality to get out of this situation. Do they have the quality to overcome Chelsea though? Probably not, hence why they're out at 6/1 with William Hill.

Chelsea's defence of their Premier League trophy has not been going exactly to plan thus far. Although the Blues sit in third place going into this weekend's games, with the top two set to face off in Manchester on Sunday afternoon, the gap between themselves and current league leaders City is now 11 points and although Antonio Conte's men aren't struggling too much to cope with the demands of European football that they didn't have to face last season, they're clearly not as dominant domestically as they were last term.

A couple of unexpected defeats against the likes of Crystal Palace and Burnley have curtailed the club's chances of retaining that title, but a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid in midweek did at least take them through to the next round of the Champions League. With focus now on their domestic football until the new year, they'll be both hoping and expecting to take three points in a comfortable London derby victory here. You can back the visitors for the win at odds of 1/2 with Coral.

In their last outing at Manchester City, Moyes' West Ham adopted a defensive approach and although they did get on the scoresheet through an Angelo Ogbonna header, their attacking threat was limited and we're expecting similar in this game. The Blues won't give the Hammers much room to manoeuvre in attack and the visitors are likely to dictate the tempo of the match throughout. Defensively they should have enough to keep the hosts at bay and that's why we're backing Chelsea to win this game to nil at odds of 6/4 with BetVictor.

Eden Hazard has been in scintillating form once again so far this season. The Belgian wizard is the driving force behind the Chelsea attack and he bagged a brace in last weekend's home victory over Newcastle United to take his season's tally to eight goals in all competitions. The former Lille man is capable of finding the net from many different scenarios and his pace and skill make him a constant threat to any Premier League defence - we can't resist backing him for another goal in this one at 7/5 with Paddy Power.

Away win to nil @ 6/4 with BetVictor
Eden Hazard to score at any time @ 7/5 with Paddy Power
