West Bromwich Albion v Southampton FA Cup predictions, betting tips and match preview here. Neither side will particularly want to add a replay to their congested fixture schedules but we think that's the most likely outcome at the Hawthorns.

West Brom v Southampton match stats

  • West Bromwich Albion have lost just one of their last four home matches
  • That defeat however came at the hands of Southampton in the Premier League
  • The Saints had gone six games unbeaten prior to last week's loss to Liverpool

West Brom v Southampton betting preview

West Bromwich Albion have struggled towards the foot of the Premier League table throughout the campaign and Alan Pardew has not yet been able to get the best out of the struggling squad since taking over from the sacked Tony Pulis earlier in the season. In fact, the Baggies have only dropped further under the former Newcastle manager's guidance and they now sit bottom of the table, seven points from safety.

It was in the third round of the FA Cup against League Two outfit Exeter City that the Midlands club finally ended a 21 game winless streak and finally secured their first victory under Pardew last month. Since then they have managed some better performances in the league and they even managed to overcome Liverpool in the last round of this competition, so they may be looking at a cup run and another win here at 17/11 with Unibet.

Southampton are another team that will perhaps be viewing the FA Cup as an unwelcome distraction given their problems in the Premier League at the moment. Mauricio Pellegrino arrived from Alaves as the club's new manager following the sacking of Claude Puel, but the Argentinian has not been able to produce positive results on a consistent basis this season which is why they currently sit in 18th place in the table.

The Saints had appeared to be getting some form together in recent weeks, holding high-flying Tottenham Hotspur to a draw and picking up a victory in their Premier League trip to the Hawthorns. However, a dismal performance against Liverpool last time out results in a 0-2 defeat. Having already overcome Watford and Fulham in the FA Cup, can they progress to the Quarter Finals with a win here at odds of 17/10 with Betfred.

We're backing a low-scoring affair here, even if the recent league meeting between the two sides finished 2-3. That game was something of an anomaly though as both sides have struggled for goals this season, the Baggies managing a paltry total of 21 in the Premier League thus far and the Saints not faring much better with 28 so far. This is likely to be a tighter affair and under 2.5 goals seems a likely winner at odds of 8/11 with Paddy Power.

It's tough to pick a winner in this game. Southampton picked up the win at the Hawthorns earlier this month, but their confidence will have been dented by that defeat to Liverpool last time out, the team that West Brom have produced their best performance in recent weeks against in the last round of the FA Cup. With the home advantage and the chance of a final eight spot in their hands, they'll be hoping for another big performance here but a draw seems the most likely outcome here at 12/5 with Unibet.

Recommended bets:
Under 2.5 goals @ 8/11 with Paddy Power
Match to be drawn @ 12/5 with Unibet
