West Brom v Crystal Palace betting preview

West Bromwich Albion have decided to take a different direction in the dugout following the sacking of Tony Pulis by hiring former Crystal Palace and Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew. The Londoner may not always be the most popular man in the media for his forthright views, but he does try to adopt an attack-minded style of play where possible and he'll be hoping to showcase his managerial ability by proving a point against his former employers at the weekend.

A very slow start to the season saw the Baggies sitting just above the relegation zone as Welshman Pulis was given the boot and during his interim spell in charge, Gary Megson has managed to widen the gap between the Midlands club and the bottom three by just one point and one place, leading the team to back-to-back draws away at Tottenham and at home to Newcastle. You can back the hosts for all three points in this fixture at odds of 6/4 with Paddy Power.

Crystal Palace have started the season with a real struggle and the summer appointment of Frank de Boer was quickly seen as a mistake and rectified by the replacement hiring of Roy Hodgson. As things stand, the Eagles are yet to get themselves off the bottom of the Premier League table, but they have started to look far stronger under Hodgson and they've now amassed nine points and they are just one win away from clambering out of the relegation zone if results elsewhere go their way.

The Londoners can make the trip to the Midlands on Saturday on the back of some improved performances and their confidence will have improved somewhat thanks to those results and performances. Hodgson will have the motivation of going and beating his former club and after recent victories over the likes of Stoke City and reigning champions Chelsea, his side will be hoping to get their first away win of the season on the board here at odds of 85/40 with Marathonbet.

We can't pick a winner in this game. Although the Baggies currently sit higher in the table and do have the home advantage, it may take some time for Alan Pardew to get his ideas across and confidence appears low at the Hawthorns at the moment. The Eagles have drawn three of their last five Premier League matches and given that they're the away side in this clash, they'll probably be happy to take a draw and that's our first recommended bet in this match at 85/40 with BetVictor.

Neither of these sides are known for being particularly attack-minded but we anticipate goals in this game. Pardew will be keen to show what he can bring to the club with a more open approach, but that could lead the hosts susceptible to the counter attack and players like Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend will prove to be a threat for Palace, particularly against a Baggies outfit that have gone ten games without keeping a clean sheet. Both teams to score is evens with Ladbrokes.
