West Brom v Brighton betting preview

West Bromwich Albion are struggling desperately towards the bottom of the table this season. With Tony Pulis' style of play considered to be far from attractive by the Hawthorns fanbase, it came as little surprise when the Welshman was given the boot as early season results started to fade and thus far his replacement, former Newcastle and Crystal Palace man Alan Pardew, has been unable to oversee a turnaround in their fortunes.

In fact, the Baggies 0-2 victory over League Two outfit Exeter City was Pardew's first win in charge of the Midlands club and they've now actually gone 20 Premier League games without tasting victory in a run stretching right back to the second match of the season. This home fixture against Brighton will have been targeted as the perfect opportunity to pick up a much-needed win and the hosts are favourites to do exactly that at odds of 59/50 with Marathonbet.

Brighton & Hove Albion are competing well in their first ever season as a Premier League club. The Seagulls were expected to struggle against relegation after winning promotion from the Championship last season and although they're far from safe from the threat of a bottom three finish in an incredibly tight bottom half of the Premier League, they'll be delighted if they manage to finish as high as 12th, the position they currently occupy.

Chris Hughton's men have continued to battle hard in recent weeks and continue to be a tough side to overcome in the Premier League, having lost just one of their last five games. However, it's also worth noting that the south coast club have only managed the one victory in their last 11 Premier League matches. As such, they're out at odds of 7/2 with BetVictor to earn their first away win in the league since November in this fixture.

We aren't anticipating many goals in this one. Brighton's main issue on the road of late has been their lack of firepower in front of goal and they've actually failed to find the net in their last five away matches in the Premier League. The Baggies haven't been much better going forward and have found the net just four times in their last eight Premier League outings both home and away. As such, under 2.5 goals is a 4/9 banker but under 1.5 goals offer far better value at 6/4 with William Hill.

Recent form may suggest the Seagulls will be tough to break down but if the Baggies are ever going to end this winless league run, surely this is the game in which they're going to do it against a Brighton side that has picked up just one point from the last available fifteen away from home. The FA Cup victory at St James' Park last time out may just give the Midlands side the boost they need to grind out a narrow 1-0 victory in this fixture at 9/2 with Paddy Power.

Recommended bets:
Under 1.5 goals @ 6/4 with William Hill
West Brom to win 1-0 @ 9/2 with Paddy Power
