St. Mirren vs. The New Saints predictions for Sunday’s Scottish League Challenge Cup clash at the Paisley 2021 Stadium. TNS look to outclass the struggling rivals and make it into the Finals on their debut. Read on for all our free predictions and betting tips.
St. Mirren vs. The New Saints Betting Tips
The New Saints have proven to be a superior force in Welsh Premier League topping the league table 21 points clear of 2nd placed Bala Town, but travel to St. Mirren for their Challenge Cup semi-final clash on the back of a 1-0 loss at Carmarthen Town. However, we do feel they have what it takes to outclass the Scottish Championship strugglers, and we’ll back an away win at 11/8 with Ladbrokes
St. Mirren currently sit rock-bottomed with just 14 points earned in 23 matches played and lagging seven points behind 9th placed Ayr United and huge 11 points behind 8th placed Raith Rovers. They come into the semi-finals with a 2-3 win at East Fife and have somewhat picked up their form recently, but it doesn’t seem they have the same sort of firepower here.
The visitors did have their 31-match unbeaten streak ended at Carmarthen, but we do feel they’ll be highly motivated to make it into the Cup Final on the day. They have previously outclassed both Forfar Athletic (1-3 win in October) and Livingston (0-3 win in November), and taking the confidence from the historic success we’re hoping to see them in the Finals.
Nonetheless, they’ve been conceding a lot of goals on the road in the last couple of outings and with St. Mirren inspired performances in the final third (nine goals in last five matches), we might be in for a thriller on the day. Over 2.5 goals FT thus looks very solid at 7/10 with bet365
and could even be the best way to approach the fixture at this point.
St. Mirren vs. The New Saints Stats
This will be the first head-to-head encounter for the teams and the fact surely makes one of the talking points on including the Welsh and Norther Ireland sides in the Challenge Cup. This makes the second consecutive semi-finals for St. Mirren, but it sure looks TNS are set to knock them out at the same stage once again.
We’ll thus back a 1-2 correct score prediction, which can be backed at an eye-catching 8/1 with William Hill
and will surely attract a few value seekers on the day.
Over 2.5 goals FT at 7/10 with bet365
