Preston North End v Bolton Wanderers Championship predictions, betting tips and match preview here. After going five games without tasting defeat, the resurgent Trotters are hoping for another positive result as they make the short trip to Deepdale on Friday night.

  • Preston North End have lost their last four consecutive matches
  • Bolton meanwhile are unbeaten in their last five Championship games

Preston v Bolton betting preview

Preston North End have looked to go in a different direction following the summer departure of Simon Grayson to Sunderland. Whilst Grayson has since been sacked and is on the lookout for a new job again, his replacement Alex Neil has led Preston to a decent enough season so far and they find themselves sitting comfortably in mid-table with 16 matches gone although they may be looking at bringing Grayson back if their current form continues.

The Lilywhites are struggling for form at the moment and come into this derby clash on the back of four consecutive defeats including a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Ipswich Town in their last outing before the international break and Neil will be hoping the break will have refreshed his underperforming squad as they look to return to competitive action with three points from this Friday evening clash in front of the TV cameras at odds of 4/5 with Betfred.

Bolton Wanderers are, as expected, struggling towards the bottom of the Championship table as things stand after battling their way to promotion from League One last season. With limited funds holding back the club given a difficult few years off the pitch for the North West outfit, they were never expected to pull up any trees after returning to the second tier and as things stand they sit in second bottom with 11 points on the board at this point.

After a very slow start to the campaign, Phil Parkinson's men have actually enjoyed an upturn in form of late and they make the short trip to Deepdale on Friday night on the back of a five game unbeaten run. A hard-fought home win over play-off contenders Norwich City last time out will have boosted confidence in the squad ahead of the international break and they'll be hoping for another three points on Friday night with their first away win since April at odds of 4/1 with Betfair.

Given the recent form of both sides, it only makes sense to look at Bolton taking something from this game. Preston have lost four consecutive games and the form book says they're bound to struggle in this match against a Bolton side who are unbeaten in five games. Given that they're yet to win away from home this season however, backing the away win may be a risky strategy so we're backing the away win and draw at evens with Ladbrokes.

Although neither side has been particularly prolific this year, both teams to score looks like a good bet in this game. Preston have shipped 10 goals in their last four games and they're up against a Bolton side that haven't failed to score in any of their last five matches, although they haven't kept a clean sheet in 15 consecutive Championship games. Both teams to score is available at 10/11 with William Hill and is our second recommendation for this match.

Recommended bets:
Bolton or draw double chance @ evens with Ladbrokes
Both teams to score @ 10/11 with William Hill
