Norwich City v Sunderland Sky Bet Championship predictions, betting tips and match preview here. Both of these teams have managed to post one point on the board after the first game of the season but the Canaries are being backed to take all three from this fixture.

Norwich City v Sunderland match stats

  • Norwich City began their season with a 1-1 away draw at Fulham last week
  • Sunderland also kicked off with a 1-1 draw, theirs coming at home to Derby County
  • The Black Cats won 0-3 on their last league visit to Carrow Road in 2016

Norwich City v Sunderland betting preview

Norwich City began the new campaign with a point last weekend. In the shape of Fulham, the Canaries took on one of our favourites for promotion to the Premier League this season and thanks to a late strike from Nelson Oliveira, they were able to rescue a point from Craven Cottage, before playing out a thrilling 3-2 victory over Swindon Town in the EFL Cup at Carrow Road on Tuesday night.

In Daniel Farke, the Canaries are hoping they have the next German boss to achieve promotion to the Premier League, following in the footsteps of Huddersfield Town's David Wagner last season. The former Borussia Dortmund II boss has a strong squad at his disposal and he'll be hoping to record a first league win of the new campaign in this game at odds of 17/20 with bet365.

Sunderland also began their campaign with a 1-1 draw on the opening night of the season at the Stadium of Light last week. Bradley Johnson had given Derby County the lead on Wearside, but the Black Cats managed to rescue a point thanks to a Lewis Grabban penalty and they were then 0-1 winners at the Energy Check Stadium over Bury in the EFL Cup on Thursday night.

Simon Grayson faces a tough task with the North East club if he's to improve the general atmosphere following some difficult seasons and relegation from the Premier League last season. The former Preston North End and Huddersfield Town boss has made some shrewd additions with a limited budget, but he needs a big win in a game like this one at odds of 19/5 with Betfair to help them gel as a team.

With the home advantage, we think the Canaries are good value for the win in this game, but they've failed to keep a clean sheet in their first two games and in the shape of James Vaughan and Lewis Grabban, the visitors possess two former Norwich players who will be desperate to prove a point against their former employers. The home win and both teams to score bet is well priced at 27/10 with Ladbrokes.

Nelson Oliveira will be hoping to be the main man in the Norwich frontline this term. The former Nottingham Forest man enjoyed a solid if unspectacular first season at Carrow Road last year bagging 11 Championship goals and he was the man on the scoresheet in the 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage last weekend. The Portuguese forward is 15/8 with Paddy Power to score at any time here.

Recommended bets:
Home win and BTTS @ 27/10 with Ladbrokes
Nelson Oliveira to score at any time @ 15/8 with Paddy Power
