Newcastle v Leicester betting preview

Newcastle United were one of my tips for relegation at the start of this season and although they currently sit in 15th place and have picked up some important wins so far this season, their lack of quality has been showing in recent weeks and they're beginning to slide slowly towards the bottom three. Although the St James' Park crowd can be a huge advantage at times, they're quick to turn if things aren't going well and the North East club can struggle to battle their way out of poor runs of form from time to time.

One such poor run of form is happening right now. Although the Magpies led at Stamford Bridge last week, they were eventually dismantled by Chelsea and ended up as 3-1 losers in the capital, meaning their winless run has now stretched to six Premier League games. Six of those outings have brought defeats and Rafael Benitez must be desperately hoping for a victory this weekend at odds of 17/10 with Marathonbet to kickstart a more positive run of results for his side.

Leicester City decided to give Craig Shakespeare a chance in the hotseat following the sacking of Claudio Ranieri last season. The English boss did manage to steer the club away from the relegation zone and into the comfort of midtable in the final weeks of the season but despite making some impressive signings on paper over the summer, the Foxes were unable to continue that form into the new campaign and as such, former Southampton boss Claude Puel has since been hired to replace him.

Puel's men make the trip to Tyneside this weekend high in confidence as two wins in their last two games against Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley at the King Power Stadium mean they've now lost just one of their last eight matches in all competitions and the Midlands club now find themselves in the top half of the league table as a result. That one and only defeat came at the hands of the irrepressible Manchester City and they'll be looking to continue this momentum this weekend.

And we fancy them to do exactly that. The Foxes have been a thorn in the side of the Magpies throughout the last few seasons, winning the last four meetings between the two teams. Confidence appears to be sapping out of this Newcastle outfit, whilst the ilkes of Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy are starting to look like the players that led the club to an historic title win a few season ago. We're backing Leicester to make it five wins from five at odds of 19/10 with BetVictor.

That man Vardy was on the scoresheet again in his side's 2-1 home victory over Tottenham Hotspur last week. The England striker has now racked up seven goals in 15 Premier League appearances this season and he's been the Foxes star man in front of goal for the last few seasons. It was at this ground in 2015 where the former Fleetwood Town man equalled Ruud van Nistelrooy's record of goals in consecutive Premier League games - will he be on the scoresheet again on Saturday? We've backed him o find the net at 6/4 with Ladbrokes.

Recommended bets:
Away win @ 19/10 with BetVictor
Jamie Vardy to score at any time @ 6/4 with Ladbrokes
