Man Utd v Stoke betting preview

Manchester United may not be able to get their hands on the Premier League title this season but they must continue battling hard in the league to ensure they secure a top four finish this term. The Red Devils have wobbled a little bit lately, seeing their grip on second place in the table loosened somewhat. Although they still sit in the runners-up position, Chelsea are now just one point behind them with fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur just six points away.

After being dumped out of the EFL Cup at the quarter final stage by Championship outfit Bristol City, Jose Mourinho's men were held to three consecutive draws in the Premier League against Leicester City, Burnley and Southampton. Thankfully for the Portuguese boss his side have since returned to form with a league over Everton and in the FA Cup against Derby County. They should face few problems in earning three more points here at 23/100 with Marathonbet.

Stoke City have endured a very poor season thus far. With hopes of returning to the top half of the table surrounding the pre-season chat among supporters, the Bet365 Stadium faithful will be devastated to see their side struggling in the relegation zone as things stand. Given this sub-par position in the table, it was no surprise when the club finally moved to sack Mark Hughes following last week's embarrassing FA Cup exit to League Two Coventry City.

Martin O'Neill and Gary Rowett are among the names reportedly being lined up for the Staffordshire job, but Eddie Niedzwiecki now takes over on a temporary basis and he'll have to work hard to improve the morale of a squad that has performed below expectations of late, picking up just one win in their last eight matches in all competitions. The Potters haven't won at Old Trafford since 1976, can they end the hoodoo here at 16/1 with Paddy Power?

With this Stoke outfit looking down on their luck at the moment and United returning to form with two comfortable wins over the Toffees and the Rams, we're anticipating a fairly simple home win for the Red Devils on Monday night. The Potters have shipped three or more goals in recent defeats to West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, so we can see a few goals being scored by the likes of Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku as United win this one by a two goal handicap at 8/5 with Ladbrokes.

Jesse Lingard has been leaving those two players for dead in the goalscoring ranks of late however. The England international is finally starting to bring some consistency into his game if recent performances are anything to go by and he's been the Red Devils' main attacking threat of late, racking up five goals in his last seven appearances in all competitions, including one each in those two wins in their last two games. The 25 year old is available at 11/8 with BetVictor to score at any time here.

Recommended bets:
Manchester United to win with a two goal handicap @ 8/5 with Ladbrokes
Jesse Lingard to score at any time @ 11/8 with BetVictor
