Liverpool vs Bournemouth betting preview

Liverpool will still be riding the crest of a wave coming into this contest after reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time in a decade after beating Manchester City 5-1 on aggregate over two legs. Beating the best team in the county this season in such emphatic fashion will have come as great satisfaction to Jurgen Klopp and it would be naive to underestimate what that will do for their confidence in the short-term and long-term.

Despite drawing 0-0 at Everton last weekend, the team maintained their ten-point lead over fifth-placed Chelsea after they drew with West Ham, leaving Liverpool in an excellent position to secure Champions League football for next season. Now in the last four of this season’s competition, it’s clear to see where their priorities lie for the remainder of this season, but they will still be keen to continue the winning feeling at Anfield this weekend.

Bournemouth meanwhile showed excellent strength to twice come from behind to earn a point against a gritty Crystal Palace side at the Vitality Stadium last time out, drawing 2-2 at the full-time whistle. Eddie Howe’s side have recently dropped into the bottom half of the table, now occupying 11th place, but have to be delighted with the fact they are 10 points clear of the relegation zone with five games left to play this season.

Winning just one of their last seven in the Premier League, their form has been patchy of late, perhaps due to complacency in the wake of their status being all but secured for next season in the top flight. Bournemouth are beginning to have the look of a side ‘already on the beach’ in the closing weeks of the campaign and face a testing five days or so, facing Liverpool and Manchester United between Saturday and Wednesday respectively.
