Liverpool vs Burnley predictions for their Premier League match at Anfield on Saturday. Burnley are unbeaten in their three away games this season. Read on for our free predictions and betting tips.

Burnley have shown much improved form on the road so far this term but are expected to suffer their first away defeat when they visit Anfield.

The Clarets struggled badly on their travels last season and it was almost exclusively their home results that kept them in the Premier League, with their only victory coming right at the end of April against Crystal Palace.

But what a difference the summer break has made because apart from winning at their fierce local rivals Blackburn in the Carabao Cup, Burnley have already collected four points away to last season’s top two, triumphing at Chelsea after the champions were reduced to 10 men early on and then scoring a last-gasp equaliser through Chris Wood at Tottenham.

Since then, Wood has repaid another chunk of his £15million transfer fee from Leeds with the winner against Crystal Palace last Sunday, pouncing on a dreadful back-pass, and that success put Burnley above Liverpool in the fledgling table on goal difference.

The reason for that, of course, was that the Reds were thrashed 5-0 at Manchester City last weekend after they had Sadio Mane controversially sent off when one goal down, and it quickly became the sort of match that simply has to have a line drawn through it due to the imbalance.

Since then, Liverpool have opened their Champions League group campaign at home to Sevilla (result not known at the time of writing) and that was an opportunity to get the Etihad result out of their system.

As long as nothing went wrong against Sevilla, Philippe Coutinho should be able to make his Premier League return here, which will be most welcome with Mane suspended, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is pushing for a first league start for his new club.

It’s asking an awful lot for Burnley to maintain their unbeaten away record as they get some of their most difficult road trips out of the way quickly, and this is expected to be a fairly routine home win.

Liverpool vs Burnley stats

  • Burnley have lost on their last nine visits to Anfield, scoring a total of only one goal
  • The Clarets’ last victory away to Liverpool was in September 1974
  • A clean sheet has been kept in nine of the last 10 matches between these clubs
