Manchester City have made the best ever start to a Premier League season and there looks to be no sign of their blistering pace at the top of the table slowing down as they prepare to visit Leicester.

Eleven matches into the campaign and Pep Guardiola’s side have dropped only two points out of a possible 33, when they drew at home to Everton, while Wolves in the Carabao Cup are the only other team to have matched the self-styled Cityzens over 90 minutes – and even 120 before the Championship leaders lost on penalties.

The blues are eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table and a best-priced 1/6 for the title, with a 100% away record in all competitions, and also now second favourites for the Champions League behind Paris Saint-Germain in what suggests a changing of the guard is nigh on the European front.

It is difficult to envisage their fantastic run ending at Leicester, even if some top teams are more vulnerable straight after an international break than when properly in the swing of things.

Leicester’s main hope will centre upon the fact they have put together a neat little sequence of results themselves, undefeated in six matches with an equal number of victories and draws.

The appointment of manager Claude Puel has sustained the momentum pleasingly for the Foxes and although the Frenchman’s arrival was not universally applauded after his underwhelming stint with Southampton, he has made a perfectly acceptable start in the East Midlands.

As well as hoping the latest break has disrupted their all-conquering opponents, Leicester may also be optimistic that the second half of November may herald another drop-off in Manchester City’s form such as those that have occurred in the last few years during the winter months.

But on present form, that would be merely clutching at straws and the 2015-16 champions are likely to be beaten by the team well on course to lift the trophy two years after the Foxes so remarkably did.

Leicester City vs Manchester City stats
