Leeds United vs Bristol City predictions for Sunday’s Championship match at Elland Road. Paul Heckingbottom is seeking his first points as Leeds manager. Read on for our free predictions and betting tips.

Paul Heckingbottom can collect his first three points as the latest in a long line of Leeds United managers by getting the better of a Bristol City side with a poor recent head-to-head record.

The stats below outline all you need to know about how Bristol City struggle against Leeds, especially on every trip to Elland Road they have made over the last couple of decades or so.

The reverse fixture to this one in October ended 3-0 to the Yorkshire club with two goals by the currently suspended Samuel Saiz and one from Pierre-Michel Lasogga – a result that completely turned the form book upside down considering the two teams’ respective form at the time.

It exemplified the hoodoo City have against these opponents and there is no obvious reason why it should end here considering both teams have been out of sorts recently.

Heckingbottom got the Leeds gig because of the good work he has done at Barnsley over the last couple of years coupled with a big dip in results that cost Thomas Christiansen his job at Elland Road, increasing the club’s number of managers to a remarkable nine in less than four years!

A 2-1 loss at Sheffield United began the Heckingbottom reign just four days after he was installed, but now he has had a full week to work with the players and get his message across.

Bristol City, meanwhile, performed heroics in the Carabao Cup this term, knocking out four Premier League clubs to reach the semi-finals, but their league form has suffered of late and they have lost seven out of 10 in all competitions as well as throwing away a 3-0 lead to draw at home to lowly Sunderland last weekend.

This is clearly not a match in which you can have maximum faith in either side, but Heckingbottom got Barnsley on a roll quickly after his appointment three years ago and is worth a chance to make a similar impact with Leeds.

Leeds United vs Bristol City stats

  • Leeds have won nine and lost only one of the 11 matches, all in the Championship, they have played against Bristol City this decade
  • Bristol City have lost on all of their last six league and cup visits to Elland Road
  • The Robins have not won any of their latest six away games, scoring only two goals
