Kilmarnock v Dundee match preview

There are few teams in Scotland in better home form at this moment in time than Kilmarnock, who secured a superb 1-0 win over Celtic in their previous outing in the Scottish Premiership at Rugby Park. Steve Clarke has had a great impact on this team, who have now climbed to 7th in the Scottish Premiership table, now finding themselves just three points behind 6th-placed Motherwell with three games in hand.

Whilst their away form requires improvement, Clarke certainly will settle for their current form at home, having beaten both Rangers and Celtic in their last two home league outings. Veteran striker Kris Boyd has enjoyed a real resurgence in recent weeks, netting seven goals in as many games in the league. Finishing in the top half will be the aim for Kilmarnock between now and the end of the campaign, and should they maintain their recent record at Rugby Park, may well have their eyes on surpassing even their original ambitions.

It’s a completely different story for Dundee at present, with Neil McCann’s side struggling to pick up victories at Dens Park, losing their last three in a row at home in the Scottish Premiership. Celtic, Hibernian and, most recently, Ross County have all come away from their visit to Dundee with three points in recent weeks, though they have won in their last two away from home.

Those victories, coming at St. Johnstone and Hamilton should give them confidence coming into this weekend, with Hearts being the only team to beat them in their last five away from home. Drawing 0-0 in their previous meeting back in November, a win for Dundee here would see them move to within a point of Kilmarnock in the table and could potentially see them climb a place to 8th in the table.

On current form, Kilmarnock are understandably the favourites to win here and rightly so, having beat both Old Firm sides at home in recent weeks.
